China University Admissions / Timeline
Timeline
An application timeline you can anchor to rules
No national calendar fixes application dates. What the official texts do fix is the order of steps and how long certain documents stay valid. Put your university's own dates on top of these.
First: the university's own dates
Each university sets its enrolment plan and publishes its brochure, so opening dates and deadlines differ by school and by year. Start from the current brochure of the university you want.
Before you apply: passport and tests
The scholarship guide asks you to renew your passport first if it has less than 12 months of validity counted from the expected start of study. Bachelor's applicants must take the CSCA before the application deadline. Language score reports must be valid when you apply.
Pre-admission comes before the scholarship form
All Chinese Government Scholarship applicants must provide a pre-admission document from the university they apply to, such as a pre-admission notice or an invitation letter from the school or a professor. Contacting the university is step two of seven, ahead of the recommendation and the online form.
Documents that expire
Results on the Foreigner Physical Examination Form are valid for six months; the form is asked of applicants who will study in China for more than six months. The Certificate of Non-Criminal Record is usually one issued within six months before you submit the application.
Before travel: the visa
Once admitted you apply for the X1 or X2 visa before entry, according to the study period, at the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country of nationality or residence.
After arrival: 30 days
Where the study visa says a residence permit is needed after entry, you apply within 30 days from the date of entry at the exit and entry administration of the public security organ in the place you will live.
